Can I use Dog Beds for my Cats?
Although we don’t know a huge amount about cats, we are slowly realising how much cats love our Tuffies dog beds. Many of our customers have, over the years, been buying dog beds for their dogs and then had to come back for more beds simply because the cat that also lives in the house has insisted on taking over the dog bed. We receive pictures of Tuffies dog beds for large breeds with one cat sitting in the middle like a queen. The dog is not allowed near it. With such a success in mind our cat-and-dog owning customers then place an order for one more bed for the cat.
We make dog beds that fits a cat.
As we make dog beds for large breeds and also for smaller breeds, we can supply dog beds suitable for any size of cat or cats.
Although we normally make practical, no nonsense waterproof dog beds, we also make really fluffy ones with a very soft inside for very small toy dogs. They are particularly appealing to cats. Our Mini Wolf Dens are super soft and the dog or cat can really snuggle in to them. They consist of a soft “tube” type of sides made from our 100% Wool or our beautiful Highland cover materials on the outside and they are lined with a fashion industry grade faux fur. No ‘squeakiness’ to the fur like you get in cheap, artificial fur products, but a VERY good lookalike and ‘feelalike’ artificial fur in either dark brown or white. If you have a white cat, the latter seems to be a great idea.
The base is several layers of fleece and fur to form a super soft envelopment of the pet. These dog- or cat beds are not really meant to be sitting directly on the cold floor, but would be more likely to be used on a bench or, dare I say, the sofa.
The base can be taken out separately, which makes it very easy to wash well and dry quickly. For small dogs and cats, a vacuum cleaning is probably enough most of the time.
Our Tuffies Nest Beds are also very appealing to cats as they are extremely keen on something where they can curl up and get really warm. The cat in a nest in the picture was sent to us some time ago and was an example of how the cat had taken over the dog bed that was really bought for the dog. Even people, who do not know much about cats will recognise the look of possession in this cat’s face…. “Do not mess with me. I am here till I choose to move”….
This bed was simply left on the kitchen table just after it was unwrapped at delivery and the cat took a shine to it straight away.
Our customer simply said that he had to purchase one more bed to prevent any domestic fights.
Cat is not ALWAYS the boss…..
We do get the odd picture that shows that the cat, no matter how keen it is to get on the dog bed, will be kept off. Here is a photo of that situation, but cat-lovers of course then can’t resist getting a nice Tuffies dog bed for the cat too.
The perfect accessory for the dog bed to make it suitable for cats.
Our Nest Sock was ‘invented’ by a customer, who owns a Vizsla. Everyone, who has owned a Vizsla knows how they seek warmth and snugness. They love being covered up and many times, when speaking with Vizsla owners they describe how they need to put a blanket over the dog at bed time….. So our creative customer asked if we could perhaps make a “sock” for the Tuffies Nest she has. We tried it and sent it to her. Her dog adored it. So this is now a product and we sell a lot. Many customers mention, again, that the cat is very fond of said Sock.
