Be Very Careful about "Water Resistant" Dog Beds.
One thing that may not be obvious is that many manufacturers will claim that their products are waterproof when they are actually only water resistant. A breathable rain coat is a good example where it is an advantage that the fabric is only water resistant. The rain will in general run off and you are able to breathe inside it. The same for a horse rug made from water resistant fabrics where a horse is out in the rain, but does not want to become damp from sweat inside it. This is VERY different to what you need from a dog bed: A dog lying on a dog bed will be pressing down on the materials and if he has a wet coat, he will force water through to the inside of the dog bed. This will result in two undesirable outcomes: The bed will slowly become damp and lose the nice insulating effect and you will start to notice the smell of damp dog bed.
