For a dog, his dog bed is to a large extend his home; or at least it is reminding him of homely comfort. It is safety and well known territory. As you are visiting your friend, you might be finding your dog a bit restless. When you first arrive, it is all cuddles and wagging tails. But after some time the restlessness sets in. He might be told to lie down in a corner on a blanket. But then he gets up after 10 minutes and walks about. He comes over to you for a reassuring cuddle, but can’t settle. The whole idea is to give your dog a spot where he can settle himself and sniff in that familiar smell. You will quickly find that your visit to your friend is calmer. Your dog is happier. If you are going for a long, muddy walk with your friend the travel bed is also a blessing. As you enter your friend’s house it is only polite to have your own place for your muddy dog.
