Dog Pillow or Dog Bed?

Mostly a Question of terminology.

Many people call a dog bed a dog pillow when they really mean a dog bed. Maybe this is because the idea of a dog having his own bed is a relatively new thing. Essentially a pillow is something where you rest your head. Back in time, and for some households today, the dog did not have his own bed. Then someone chucked a pillow on the floor for the little Jack Russell and it was the dog’s pillow. For the quarter century that Tuffies have been selling dog beds, we have often been asked for Dog Pillows. Or Dog Baskets. Does anyone still have a basket for their dog?

Dog Pillows.

So if a pillow is a thing where you rest your head, does a dog really want a pillow? You can actually buy a “dog pillow” for the dog to have in his bed. It is highly unlikely that the dog will be able to figure out how to use it to rest his head. Dogs love resting their heads up high, but they simply don’t have the skill to organize a pillow for the head. It is something that is beyond a dog. The same sort of thing happens if he has left a big bone in the middle of his bed: He cannot figure out how to move it away. He will get in the bed and try and get to sleep somewhere around this bone.

A Fixed Dog Pillow.

So how do you give your dog a pillow where he can rest his head? A loose pillow is not working even though it might look cute to have a pillow with his name on. Forget the dog pillow and get a nest dog bed. At Tuffies our most incredibly popular dog bed is the Nest dog bed. Tuffies won the Your Dog Magazine competition for “The Best Dog Bed” on the entire market in UK with the Nest. When your dog uses his Tuffies Nest, he can be snug and cosy AND have a pillow for his head: The edge! Have a look at the photograph showing a very contented dog resting his head, not on a pillow, but on the nest surround. THAT is the solution to Dog Pillows.
