Dog Beds for Two Large Dogs
Above is a picture of a large Tuffies Nest with two spaniels sharing. Spaniels are not particularly large dogs, but if you have a couple of Labradors, you need at least an Extra Large Tuffie Nest. It is an absolute hit or miss whether your two dogs like to share a dog bed. The best of doggy friends will enjoy the warmth and comfort of sharing. However, it is still important to give them the option of having separate beds. In my household, my two large dogs love to share, but there is a specific dynamic: The dominant dog can always come along and go in to the lower ranking dog’s bed. The other way round is not possible. If the dominant dog is asleep in a bed it is almost impossible for the other just to walk in. Equally, if the dominant dog has decided to share a bed, she might be squashing the other dog. He can’t tell her to get off, so he just has to get out.
Human Dog Beds
This is very new “thing”. To get a bed that you can share, on the floor, with your dog is definitely a sign of the times. We are “humanising” our pets, but here we are going the other way: We want to join our dogs in the dog world: ON THE FLOOR. Here at Tuffies dog beds we do not quite understand this trend. Yes, cuddle your dog, but maybe have him on the sofa? To deliberately have a huge dog bed on the floor so that you can join your dog in his bed……? No. In terms of dog bed quality, we have been looking at what is for sale as Human Dog Beds and they are all synthetic, low quality beds. What will you do when this latest trend is over? You now have large piece of fabric, made in China, which is out of fashion. Let’s leave dogs to be dogs in their dog beds.
Long Dog Beds
These can be ideal for two or more dogs if you have a special space for the dogs that is oblong. At Tuffies we make bespoke dog beds every day that fit in under a set of shelves or even a long piece of kitchen work top. If you have a long dog bed under a bench or work top or along a window, your dogs can share. The ones that don’t enjoy sharing should be able to have enough space to curl up without being squashed. All you need is to measure the space and let Tuffies know what materials you prefer. We can make almost any space. But watch the dynamics. One of your dogs might need to have dog bed sitting on its own that he can escape to if he is not popular with the others.
Jumbo Dog Beds.
This is basically any dog beds that is HUGE. At Tuffies we are able to (and often do) make massive dog beds. We have been asked for some enormous Jumbo beds, but we do recommend that you consider the weight of these beds. As the mattress inside a Tuffie bed is substantial, the weight can turn in to a limiting factor. When you are washing a dog bed that is two meters by three meters it becomes a big task. Yes, you can just soap them and hose them down, but they are hard to handle with their weight. We often recommend that you get two beds half the size.
